We are a highly-qualified team of advisers with many years of experience leading or working with ambitious growth companies across many sectors.
As the person responsible for bringing together this talented and maverick group, it is my pleasure to introduce myself and the rest of the team:
I founded Catalysis in 2010 after some years running a similar practice within Grant Thornton. My connection to mid-market investment goes back to 1994 when I worked in EBRD assisting, amongst other things, with the creation of the first private equity fund in Romania. After a spell running a JV between Creditanstalt Investment Bank and Advent International, I became interested in how to improve investor-management interactions and have dedicated myself to that topic for the last 22 years.
Andy has worked with Catalysis since 2015. He has held senior leadership roles, including as CEO and Divisional MD, in industry and in education with Blue Circle, Magnet/Enodis, Inspiring Futures and Study Group. He worked previously with Bain & Co. in the UK and Australia. Andy has an MA in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford and an MBA from INSEAD. He has served on multiple boards in both commercial organisations and social enterprises.
Katy was a pioneer in the management due diligence and assessment field from 2002, and we collaborated initially in 2005 and then reconnected professionally in 2017. She has carried out over 100 projects with private equity investors with Burlington Consultants, Cardinal and subsequently with leading headhunters Spencer Stuart. She began her career as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company, then worked on corporate development with J.Sainsbury plc before becoming an investment banker with NM Rothschild in Latin America and Australia.
She has an MA in PPE from University of Oxford and qualified in psychometric testing with the British Psychological Society. Katy was involved in the formulation of the coalition government's international development policy. She has held a variety of governance roles in local schools since 2001 and has an interest in the administration of justice in family courts. Katy is the founder and CEO of Aptimore, an online leadership development platform.
Aly and I connected originally in Grant Thornton around 2006 when she led a team focused on growth company strategy and helped me build an organisational effectiveness tool and organisation develop methodology. Since 2010 we have worked on a variety of strategy and organisation projects together. However, in recent years she has been much in demand transforming businesses in the professional services and property sectors, as well as running her own furniture manufacturing business.
She has an MA in Modern History and Modern Languages from the University of Oxford and started her career in accountancy as a corporate finance partner with Grant Thornton. After a period helping Raymond Blanc expand his restaurant business, Aly created her own food concept. She has served as a director of multiple businesses as well as of schools.
